Donate to support SPHN

Each year, the Social Personality and Health Network (SPHN) supports the next generation of researchers through preconference mentorship tables, networking opportunities, resources for applying to graduate programs, and student travel awards to recognize exceptional young researchers. Student travel awards are SPHN’s largest expense, supported pre-pandemic by our management of the SPSP 5k fun race/walk. Even with the return to in-person meetings, growing costs often exceed SPHN's ability to host the 5k on a regular basis. Although SPHN membership comes with registration for the SPSP Health Preconference, SPHN does not receive any portion of these registration fees.

In short, SPHN’s programming comes from donations.

Donations of any amount are helpful! Individual donations of $25 or more annually will be recognized in the upcoming year's preconference program.

Recognize someone influential with a donation to SPHN

Consider donating to SPHN with an acknowledgment of someone who has been influential to you and your career. Donors and their ‘inspirations’ will be acknowledged in several ways.

Individual donations of $25 or more will be recognized in the upcoming year's preconference program, with donor’s name and the name of the person they wish to recognize.

Individual/pooled donations exceeding $500* in recognition of an individual: One of the annual student travel awards will be given “in recognition” of that individual and the impact they have had on our members. Donors may choose to write a statement about their honoree's impact that will be posted on the SPHN website.

Individual/pooled donations exceeding $1500* in recognition of an individual will give either one of our annual Early Career or Diversity in Research awards “in recognition” of that individual. Donors may choose to write a statement about their honoree's impact that will be posted on the SPHN website.

If you would like to donate in acknowledgement of someone, please donate through this Paypal link followed by completing this brief questionnaire about the person you would like to recognize and any award you would like your donation to go towards.

Proposals for larger donations or endowments to permanently name awards are welcome, and will be considered by the SPHN Steering Committee.

*Awards will be given "in recognition" in the order that the donation levels are met (e.g., when a pooled donation level is met, that person will be recognized with the next available annual award). If a pooled donation level is not met in a given year, it will be carried forward to subsequent years until the pooled donation level is met.

The Social Personality and Health Network is a 501(c)(3) non-profit.
